  In order to manage the process of transition to the market economy based on the principles of competition, social problems settling and environment protection, highly-qualified specialists are needed with a profound training in all the spheres of economic science and practice.The socio-economic importance of higher economic education is becoming more and more evident in the Republic of Moldova.
  The Faculty of Economics is one of the basic units in the structure of the Free International University of Moldova established in the period of its foundation in October, 1992. The process of instruction is organized in strict conformity with the Law on Education of the Republic of Moldova and Concept of its implementation, on the basis of ULIM’s General Strategy and Faculty’s Regulation.
  The basic methodical subdivisions of the Faculty are its 8 Chairs, namely those of International Economic Relations, Management, Finance and Insurance, Accounting and Audit, Banks and Stock Exchanges, Applied Modern Languages in Economics and Law, Mathematics and Statistics, and Information Science. Their conceptual priority is to organize and ensure a high level of educational, methodical and scientific activity of the students and the professorial staff, aimed at teaching and mastering one or more essential disciplines, such as International Economic Relations, Trade, Tourism and Hotelier Services, Management, Marketing, Finance and Insurance, Accounting and Audit, Banks and Stock Exchanges.
  In accordance with the teaching curricula developed along specialization lines, The Faculty of Economics is aimed at training future economists who will be able to work in public administration bodies. The curricula are currently in the process of further modification and include the stages of postgraduate (masterate and doctorate) and retraining studies.
  The Faculty of Economics aspires to be ranked among prestigious institutions of economic profile on the national and international scale.
  The aim of the Faculty is to train highly-qualified specialists and researchers in the field of economics, whose instruction level would meet the requirements of the national transitional economy, who would be theoretically and practically competent in solving present-day problems of the market economy and European and global integration. At the same time, along conceptual lines the Faculty offers an opportunity of receiving an in-depth specialized training to persons willing to acquire a second speciality in the framework of continuous education.
